When you’re trying to live life more fully and worry less often, it’s important to have the ‘money part’ of your life under control.

But that’s part of the problem. For many people, managing money can seem like a full-time job in itself: Crafting a sound investment plan designed to meet your goals; keeping up with the markets; changes in the tax laws; monitoring the performance of stocks, bonds and mutual funds; figuring out what to do about paying college costs; planning for retirement, and estate planning. It really can be a full-time job.

For us, it is a full time job. It’s a job we do for our clients every day; and we can do the same for you so that you can go about doing more interesting things…such as living life to its fullest.

We approach investing through five steps:
  • Discovery phase
  • Assessment phase
  • Presentation of recommendations
  • Implementation of recommendations
  • Ongoing monitoring and rebalancing of portfolio
Our approach when structuring portfolios:
  • We construct a diversified portfolio of companies that maintain all or most of the following: strong balance sheets, positive earnings growth, dividend strength and growth, attractive P/E ratios, and other positive indicators.
  • We analyze proprietary and correspondent research to choose specific companies that have attractive valuations
  • We identify positive themes and catalysts in the markets and domestic and foreign economies
Some current themes that we use to invest are:
  1. The Graying of America
  2. The Greening of America
  3. Innovation and Transformation
  4. Great American Companies with a Global Footprint
  5. Global Rebalancing
How we build wealth:
  • We build wealth over time because we buy companies, not the market.
  • In flat or down markets we will often use Covered Call writing as a means for extra income and downside protection.
  • While always attempting to outperform the overall market, our focus is on preservation of capital
  • Our business is customized for each client, because each client has their own special set of circumstances, for example tax implications and income needs. We may use similar investments, but percentages and allocations will be different.  We do not invest using "cookie cutter" models.
The steps and ideas outlined above are used when a client has an Advisory Relationship with The Wheeler-Hosty Group.  If you would like to learn more about our advisory services, please visit the page "How We Work With You"
